Ghana’s gospel music fraternity is mourning the death of veteran gospel musician Bernice Offei, who has passed away at the age of 63.
The respected singer reportedly died on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
News of her passing comes just days after concerns were raised about her whereabouts when she was reported missing in Accra. An appeal was subsequently made to the public to help locate her, drawing attention from family, friends, fellow gospel musicians and members of the public.
She was later found safe, bringing relief to many who had joined efforts to locate her.
The news of her death shortly afterwards has therefore come as a shock to many within Ghana’s Christian and gospel music community.
A respected voice in Ghanaian gospel music
Bernice Offei was a recognised figure in Ghana’s gospel music industry and built a career around music carrying messages of faith, hope, perseverance and reflection.
Among the songs for which she became widely known are “Hold On” and “Life Is So Short.”
Through her music and ministry, she became part of a generation of Ghanaian gospel musicians whose songs have ministered to Christian audiences over the years.
Her passing represents another significant loss to Ghana’s gospel music fraternity.
As of the time of publication, the cause of her death had not been officially confirmed, while further details from her family concerning funeral arrangements were yet to be announced.
