SAFE Water Network Ghana – an NGO – has commissioned a water project for the residents of Labolabo, a community in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region.
Charles Nimako, the Country Director for Safe Water Network Ghana, speaking at the commissioning of the projects, said that they were striving to get potable water to a lot of communities.
He said the NGO had provided water to 120 communities in the country for the benefit of about 400,000 people.
He made it clear that Safe Water and its financiers do not charge the communities for the water provided but added that there is a small charge of 10 pesewas to cater for those who work on the water project and to provide electricity to power the water after the project is handed over.
Samuel Kwame Agyekum, District Chief Executive for Asuogyaman District, expressed his delight in the project and commended the NGO highly for the initiative.
Mrs Victoria Todd, a representative from One Foundation, the financiers of the project, said she was impressed that a lot of people are getting potable water through their funding.
