Assemblyman of Ahano confident of re-election

Mr. Eric Xa, Assembly member for Ahado Electoral Area at Hohoe in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region is confident of re-election on December 17 at the District Level Elections.  

He said his ability to lobby development projects from the Assembly to his area, efforts at improving sanitation and contributions to the Assembly were enough to earn him another term as an Assembly member.

Mr. Xa who is hoping for a second term as an Assembly member is being contested by four other candidates for the electoral area.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) through his lobbying skills, some roads within his electoral area saw major facelifts, adding that he also lobbied for a new road with the Urban Roads, which would begin soon.

Mr. Xa said he lobbied for the construction of classroom blocks with ancillary facilities for some basic schools within his electoral from the Assembly and added that he also liaised with old students from basic schools to support the schools.

The Assemblyman said he also provided a borehole to Hohoe-Low-cost through the help of the Member of Parliament and also provided streetlights to communities in the electoral area.

He said he also helped some Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) to receive wheelchairs and also renewed NHIA membership cards for some vulnerable persons in the area.  

Mr. Xa said his efforts at securing plots of land in his area for the construction of a modern market by the Assembly was one major contribution towards empowering women because the market will grow the local economy.  

He said some of the challenges he faced were the unwillingness of the electorate to participate in communal works and the large size of the electoral area, which sometimes made other communities felt ignored.  

Mr. Xa appealed that distribution of items or projects from the government through the Assemblies should be based on the size and population of an electoral area to enable citizens have equal access to development projects.

He said if elected, he would make sure projects he lobbied for were completed.
