President Akufo-Addo inspects Pokuase Interchange

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Monday inspected the progress of work on the USD 60 million four-tier Pokuase Interchange in the Trobo Constituency,  Greater Accra Region.

The inspection formed part of activities to familiarise  himself with  developments in the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies as embarked on a three day tour of  the Greater Accra Region.

Started in 2018, the Pokuase Interchange project, funded by the African Development Bank, was presently 50 per cent completed.

Construction work was expected to  conclude in October, 2020.

The project, which would ease traffic on the Ofankor-Pokusae-Amasaman axis of the Accra-Kumasi highway when completed, formed part of the Ministry of Roads and Highways’ “Accra Urban Transport Projects (AUTP)”.

The President also inspected the newly constructed road from the Atomic Junction to the Taifa Junction in the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, as well as the road project at Adjiringanor in the Adenta Constituency.

He commissioned  a 10-Unit three-bedroom State Housing Company Cluster of Houses at Frafraha in Adenta, as well as the newly constructed 3- storey Court Complex also at Frafraha Rowi in the Adenta Municipality.

The President later commissioned the Artifical football pitch for the Madina Zongo Community.

Ealier, the President held separate durbars with the Chiefs and people of the communities he visited on the first day of his tour of the region during which he thanked them for their overwhelming support.

He appealed to the Chiefs to continue to support his government to transform the country, saying that the policies and programmes being implemented by his administration would fast-track the socio-economic prosperity of the nation.  

At Nsakina in Amasaman in the Ga West District, the Chiefs and people commended him for his exemplary leadership and policies that was changing the fortunes of the people, particularly the introduction of the flagship free Senior High School( SHS) policy and the restoration of teachers and nurses allowances.

Nii Amasa Osei Klu, Chief of Amasaman, made a passionate appeal to have thier roads, which were in a deplorable state, fixed to enhance the quality of life of residents.

He assured the President of his support  and that of his appointees in the area to realise the vision of improving the lives of the people.

President Akufo-Addo assured the people of Ga West, Ga East and Ga Central that the rehabilitation of the road network and infrastructure in those areas would be given the needed attention.

He said even though not all the could  be done, his administration would  ensure that majority of the roads were fixed.
