Mr Pius Hadzide, the Deputy Minister of Information, has advised the public to pay attention to the regular press briefings before they make comments publicly on the COVID-19 and the response strategies put in place by government.
He said officials of the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Information have made it clear on the figures of persons recovered from the COVID-19, yet some people find it difficult to accept the process.
The Minister gave the advice at a media briefing in Accra held to provide a situational update on the country’s case management of COVID-19.
“It has abundantly been made clear that recovery is a process and not an event which occurs overnight”.
“Government protocols for declaring COVID-19 infected persons recovered involves obtaining two straight negative results and that many people who have been infected are awaiting their second test and once those test results came back negative they would be declared recovered,” he said.
Mr Hadzide said government is concerned with the insinuations that casts doubt on the authenticity on recoveries declared by the Ghana Health Service.
He urged the public to gladly accept fellow compatriots who were once infected and tested positive but have gone through the process of receiving care and have now consecutively tested negative and fully recovered back into society.
“It would be dangerous if in our communities people begin to doubt the GHS and resort to putting persons who have recovered to street proof,” he said.
He said government would continue to provide accurate and truthful information on COVID-19 including that of recoveries in a timely manner.
The Minister advised the public to show gratitude to the several frontline health professionals who were providing treatment and care for the sick and ensuring that they were fully recovered.
He said inconsiderate partisan commentary were counterproductive in the struggle against COVID-19.
