Obokese Foundation plants 1,000 trees to Support Green Ghana Initiative

Obokese Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has planted 1,000 trees to complement Government’s efforts to making Ghana green. 

The Foundation, which seeks to engage in rural community support, ensure development and training of the youth started the exercise at Moree and extended it to other parts of the Abura- Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) district of the Central Region. 

It collaborated with the three Asafo Companies in the Asebu Traditional Area to respond to the call by the Government to plant five million trees across the country. 

The Green Ghana initiative launched by the government in March is aimed at restoring the country’s lost forests, repair the damaged ecosystems and mitigate climate change. 

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA),Mr. Ibrahim Kwame Baidoo, the Executive Director of the Foundation said they were committed to support the Government in all their endeavors. 

He said trees played vital role in the lives of all and it was important that everyone got actively involved in the exercise. 

Nana Obokese Ampah I, Apagyahen of Asebu Traditional Area and the Chairman of the Foundation urged the people of Moree to protect and help preserve the forest cover and vegetation in the area. 

He urged all to take keen interest in the green Ghana project because it was a sure way to not only to beautify Ghana, but replace lost vegetation and protect lives.
