17-year-old drowns in abandoned pit in Gomoa East

17-year-old Patrick Nyarko, a JHS 3 student, has drowned in an abandoned pit while 12 others survived at Gomoa Asare Krom in the Gomoa East District.

The incident happened on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Eyewitnesses say they saw the teenagers swimming in a stream created as a result of the activities of persons scavenging for stones.

They say this is not the first time an individual has drowned in the abandoned pit.

The father of the teenager who drowned expressed shock at the incident when he spoke to Citi News.
