The TUC will meet with the NLC today to discuss the strike against Sunon Asogli.

Date:

After the former’s planned statewide strike on July 10, the TUC’s Organized Labour leadership will meet with the National Labour Commission (NLC) today, July 4.

The meeting comes after the NLC summoned Organized Labour after its leadership planned a statewide strike.

After the expulsion of three Union Leaders at Sunon Asogli Power Station, Organized Labour stated on June 26th that it will go on strike on July 10th.

The TUC is enraged by management’s decision not to restore them after repeated appeals.

Dr. Yaw Baah, Secretary General of the TUC, told media in Accra that the strike will continue.

“The directive is that Organized Labour leaders have stated that on July 10, we would begin a countrywide strike including all Organized Labour employees, thus that stands.”

“In the meantime, the National Labour Commission has called us, we will go and hear them. The truth of the matter is that a lot of stakeholders are involved in this. As soon as we issued the statement on the strike for July 10, as we expected, I can tell you that a number of people who care about this country have come, and they want to see how they can work with us as management,” the Secretary General of the TUC, Dr. Yaw Baah, said.

The Union said the three had their contracts terminated simply because they decided to join the Trades Union Congress which it said is against the labour laws of Ghana.
