The leadership of Organized Labour will meet with the National Labour Commission (NLC) today, July 5, to discuss their decision to strike on July 10 in response to Sunon Asogli’s expulsion of three of their union leaders.
The meeting follows the failure of the previous meeting on July 4 between leaders of Sunon Asogli Power Limited, Organized Labour, and the NLC.
Dr. Yaw Baah, Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), told Citi News that the outcome of the discussions will decide their future course of action.
“We are sure that the engagement will result in an amicable conclusion, and that if that agreement is reached, there will be no need for a strike.” As a result, we feel optimistic about the outcome of the engagement. If not, you know what will happen,” stated the Trades Union Congress Secretary-General.
The appointments of the union leaders were terminated after they joined the Ghana Mine Workers Union, which is affiliated with the TUC.
