Alexis Mac Allister’s red card against Bournemouth in Liverpool’s home opener will be appealed.

On Saturday, the Argentine was sent against Bournemouth on his home debut after catching Ryan Christie with a hard, studs-up tackle.

According to the Mirror, Liverpool has allegedly filed a formal appeal with the FA to have the red card verdict overturned after contesting the referee’s judgement. When asked about filing an appeal, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp replied, “Let’s see what we can do, for sure we will try and talk to the people about it.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: The World Cup winner made his first-ever appearance for the Reds in their season opener against Chelsea but his home debut at Anfield was marred by controversy after he mistimed a challenge and mistakenly clipped Bournemouth midfielder Ryan Christie’s leg with his boot after which he was immediately sent off.
