West Ham have reached a deal with Julen Lopetegui to replace David Moyes, as the former Real Madrid manager passes on the chance to oversee Harry Kane at Bayern.

Date:

West Ham have apparently reached a deal with former Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui to take over for David Moyes this summer.

Lopetegui has been out of work since early this season, when he left Wolves owing to a disagreement with the club’s management. The Athletic reports that Lopetegui has agreed to take charge at West Ham at the end of the season.

Moyes has come under pressure at West Ham after an underwhelming season with the Premier League side. The Scot’s team have suffered 13 losses and sit down in ninth place in the table after being hammered 5-0 by Chelsea last time out in the English top flight. Sporting boss Ruben Amorim had been linked with a move to the East London club but Lopetegui now looks set to replace Moyes.

Lopetegui had also received interest from German giants Bayern Munich, who are set to part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season, according to the report. The Bavarians made an approach on Monday morning but the Spanish coach has his eyes set on the West Ham job and will stick with his choice.

The Hammers will bid farewell to Moyes in their last two games of the season as they take on two teams at different ends of the table. Next up is a clash with Luton Town on Saturday, May 11, before a trip to title-chasing Manchester City.
