Kenya: The anguish of the bereaved, calls for for new protests

Date:

Kenyans were rattled to the core after days of brutal protests over proposed tax rises and the bill’s withdrawal.

The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights recorded abductions and arbitrary arrests.

The body said that 26 individuals were murdered during the demonstration on June 25 alone. Many more people were hurt.

A number of companies have also reported losses as a result of looting and building fires.

William Ruto has been meeting with various organisations in the State House in an effort to find a long-term solution in response to the demonstrations.

The President has instructed the formation of a committee to address the concerns of young people who are unsatisfied with the country’s current status.
