Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford makes Barcelona transfer choice, but ‘compromise’ is needed to complete La Liga move.

Date:

Marcus Rashford, a Manchester United loanee, has apparently set his sights on joining Barcelona, but he will need to make a “compromise” in order to do so.

Despite making an impression while on loan at Aston Villa, Rashford “still wants to come” to Barcelona, according to Sport, via Sport Witness. The Catalan team has been the 27-year-old’s “no matter what” target, but Hansi Flick’s team hasn’t decided whether to pursue him or not.

Rashford swapped United for Villa on loan for the second half of this season and some of his displays so far, particularly the second leg against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals, have caught Barca’s attention. The report states they are looking for a left winger who can operate across the frontline, but if he were to join, he would have to ‘compromise’ on his big wages and effectively take a pay cut. Either way, it seems his United career is over.

The report adds that Barcelona negotiated a loan deal for Rashford in January but that did not go ahead as their priority was to tie some of their players down to new contracts, such as Pedri, Gavi and Ronald Araujo.
