The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council has given car dealers and illegal occupants within the Sofoline interchange enclave up to 20th January, 2022 to vacate the place.
This is to allow the contractor working on the project access to the site to commence landscaping and other ancillary beautification activities at the Sofoline interchange.
Car dealers and illegal occupants continue to thrive at the project site in spite of an earlier directive issued last year for them to vacate the site.
A statement released by the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council and signed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah however says that “…after the deadline of 20th January, 2022, any vehicle or items found in the area will be removed at the cost of the owners”.

It is feared that failure to clear the site will cause the already delayed project to delay even further.
The Sofoline Interchange project was started in 2007 and was expected to be completed in 2010 but is currently on 75% complete.
