The family of the late Ibrahim Mohammed, popularly known as Kaaka, is expected to officially respond today, Monday, October 4, 2021, to the 55-page report of the 3-Member committee that probed the Ejura disturbances.
The Justice Koomson committee in its report published on Monday, September 27, 2021, concluded that the activism of Kaaka cannot be linked to his death.
It explained that his death could more likely be linked to a family feud.
“We, accordingly, find that the death of “Kaaka” was not directly linked to his social media activism. It is more probably a family feud. This is also supported by the testimony of Aminu Mohammed, a resident of Ejura and a friend of the late Kaaka”, portions of the report read.”

The committee amongst among other things, recommended the removal of the MCE for the area, who had already pulled out of the race for a new MCE, and compensation for the affected families and victims.
It also recommended the transfer of the police commander and called for sanctions against the military use of force.
The family of Kaaka in an initial reaction said the report is fraught with factual inaccuracies.
“Going through the document, you will realize that there are a lot of factual inaccuracies. But what can we do? It is human beings who sat before four individuals, and they came out with this, so we have to study it. But generally. I have problems with everything about the findings and recommendations.”
“We have lived for centuries and there is no feud among us. We think that in the law court, we can examine some of the testimonies because some of the witnesses knew they were going to peddle falsehood, so they went in camera. So to be frank, we are not happy with the report, it contains a lot of speculations and factual inaccuracies,” a brother of the late Kaaka said in a Citi News interview.
The Executive Director of the Human Rights and Governance Centre, Martin Kpebu, has expressed his disappointment with the committee’s silence on the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah.
According to him, the committee should have recommended his removal from office.
“It is shocking that though the committee had the courage to say that the District Police Commander should be transferred when it came to the Regional Minister, the committee was silent.”
“They should have just gathered the courage to say the obvious and the obvious is that Mr. Osei Mensah has to be sacked,” Mr. Kpebu said.
