Deputy Minister of Local Government and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem South, O.B. Amoah says the high level of success chalked up does not bring the fight against illegal mining to an end.
This follows recent comments emanating from the galamsey saga about the missing excavators which is being politicized.
Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs Programme, “FOCUS” Mr. Amoah charged institutions investigating the issue not to hesitate to name and shame persons involved no matter the political affiliation.
MP for Tamale North Constituency, Alhassan Suhuyini expressed worry about the involvement of politicians in the mismanagement of seized excavators and machinery.
Mr Suhuyi said keeping the excavators outside police custody was against the law reiterating that the scheme was to enrich the New Patriotic Party (NPP) political agenda and not to benefit the state.
Director of Communication, Small Scale Miners, Francis Opoku said the fight against illegal mining can be successful if it is tackled from the bottom.
