Mason gets four years imprisonment for stealing

Akropong (Ash) Feb. 17, GNA – The Asante Akropong circuit court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District, has sentenced a 28-year-old mason to four years imprisonment for stealing at Adankwame, near Akropong. 

Prince Anim Cobbina, pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea. 

Police Chief Inspector Ruth Gborson, prosecuting, told the court presided by Mrs Philomena Asiedu that, the complainants Emmanuel Amo, an electric welder, and Angelina Atia, a drinking bar attendant, were residents of Adankwame while the convict hailed from Kwahu Abetifi in the Eastern Region. 

On February 06, 2025, complainant Amo detected the damage of the metal gate to his welding shop, and the theft of his wheelbarrow, three head pans, two pick axes, two burglar proof metals, a half bag of cement all valued at GHc 5,000.00. 

He reported the theft to the Akropong police. 

Chief Inspector Gborson said, on that same day, Angelina Atia also reported the theft of her gas cylinder, a gallon of akpeteshie drink, a pack of adonko biters, a pack of alomo bitters drink (all local gin), a bottle of Guinness, three bottles of storm energy drink, two bottles of five star energy drink and five bottles of Tampico all valued at GHc 1,000.00 from her shop, so the police started investigating. 

During the investigations, the convict was spotted with the stolen items on the wheelbarrow and was arrested. 

Prosecution said, the accused admitted in his caution statement and led the police to where he stole and hid the items. 

After further investigations he was charged and brought before the court.
