NPP presidential candidates Bawumia and Alan will be scrutinised today.

Date:

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will begin assessing presidential candidates vying to head the party in the 2024 general elections today, July 3.

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, former Minister of Commerce; businessman Kwadwo Poku; and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the current Vice President, are among those who will be vetted today.

On Tuesday, July 4, the screening process will resume with other candidates, including former Energy Minister Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, and Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Ohene Agyepong.

Evans Nimako, Secretary of the National Presidential Vetting Committee, stated in a statement that the remaining candidates would be scrutinised on July 5 and 6.

The NPP will however hold a special congress on August 26, to elect five candidates for the November 4 primary.

To supervise the vetting of the 10 presidential aspirants, the party on Friday, June 30, inaugurated a nine-member vetting committee chaired by a former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye.
