President’s directive for bridge construction: GAF Engineers undertake feasibility studies at Asuokow

Date:

Accra, Feb 11, GNA – Engineers of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have visited the Asuokow community in the Lower West Akim Constituency of the Eastern Region to conduct feasibility studies for the construction of a bridge over a stream.

This was in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s directive to engineers within the GAF to construct a bridge over a stream at Asuokow in the Lower West Akim Constituency of the Eastern Region to facilitate students’ movement to access school.

The directive was in response to a video clip, which went viral on social media showing a schoolboy carrying another schoolboy on his back trying to cross a stream on a fallen tree to access school.

Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Defence Minister in a statement said: “As President John Dramani Mahama assured Ghanaians, we’re working to permanently and urgently resolve the challenge the people and the school children of Asuokow are facing. We shall fix it!”
