The South Tongu District Football Association (STDFA) in the Volta Region has congratulated Bebeto FC and Yingor FC following their outstanding qualification to the Volta Regional Football Association Division Two Middle League.
The association has described the achievement as a proud moment for football in the district as the two teams from the district would be eyeing division one league spot in the 2026-2027 season.
Mr John Amekudzi, the Secretary of the South Tongu District Football Association, disclosed that the two clubs had demonstrated exceptional hardwork, discipline, resilience and commitment that had not only brought honour to their respective clubs but also lifted the image of the district’s football on a wider competitive stage.
“For the players, coaches, and supporters of Bebeto FC and Yingor FC, the qualification represents the end of months of grueling training sessions, early morning runs, and late evening tactical drills. A journey driven by passion, sacrifice, that we deserve to be respected for, beyond district boundaries,” he said.
He noted that having two strong clubs qualify to the Middle League at the same time was a significant milestone which speaks volumes about the depth of talent quietly growing in the district.
“This has long existed in the hearts and feet of young boys and girls who dream of higher stages and brighter lights,” the Secretary said.
Mr Amekudzi explained that the achievement reflects improved competitiveness and the positive impact of grassroots football initiatives that have been steadily nurtured at the community level.
He said: “The progress we have developed so far must serve as inspiration for younger players who are watching and waiting for their own turn to shine.”
He said that behind every goal scored and every match won on the road to qualification, there were untold stories of personal sacrifice about players who balanced football with farm work, families who supported sons through lean times, and coaches who believed in the dream even when resources were scarce.
The association expressed confidence that both Bebeto FC and Yingor FC would carry the name of South Tongu with distinction, sportsmanship and determination as they compete in the upcoming Regional Middle League slated on June 7 to 15.
The association has also urged the clubs to see their qualification not as an end but as the beginning of a journey towards even greater heights, including promotion to higher divisions such as first division and premiere league.
Mr Israel Blebu and Stephanie Ashigbey, fans of the clubs told the Ghana News Agency, that their respective teams would emerge victorious in the division one middle league and qualify to the division one next season.
Football lovers and community members in South Tongu, many of whom have followed the two clubs from their earliest days in local competitions, have been celebrating the news with great enthusiasm which reflected on their deep emotional bond between the clubs and the communities they represent across the district.
The STDFA urged the clubs to remain focused, maintain team discipline, and continue to invest in player development, and warned that the Volta Regional stage would present tougher competition for the talent and character the teams possessed to compete and succeed at that level.
The two teams after winning their zones in the second division sub-middle league would face other qualified teams for the 2025-2026 Volta Region Division Two Middle League such as Maranatha FC, Kpetoe Diamond FC, Nkonya All Stars, Yadzo Oti Warriors, Nukunu Sports Academy and Keta FC.
The games were slated to take place at Ho, the regional capital with winner of the trophy would pick the division one slot for next season.
