Sylvester Mensah to restore NDC poor relationship with elders in society

Date:

Sylvester Mensah, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has stated that the party lost the 2016 general election because of the poor relationship the party had with chiefs, religious leaders and elders in society.

“The party lost favour with religious leaders, traditional authorities and elders in society in the run-up to the elections due to the treatment the National Democratic Congress (NDC) meted out to them and I promise under my leadership, I will restore the relationship between the party and chiefs, religious leaders and elders in society.

Mr. Mensah, a flagbearer hopeful assured party delegates and executives in the Agortime-Ziope constituency of the Volta Region saying “I am here to give you my word, if you give me the nod, I will restore the party’s relationship with our elders, religious leaders and chiefs across the country to ensure in 2020, they will support the party for victory.

“I give you my word, I will bring on board all our party elders who took a decision to stay away from us in 2016 due to our attitude towards them, I will rely on personal relationship I have with all elders to restore their confidence in the party, under my leadership,” he promised.

Mr. Mensah, who is a foundation member of the NDC and served in various positions, is currently a member of the Council of Elders in Greater Accra Region was confident his message had given them positive assurance to restore unity in the party, and was hopeful the delegates will support his campaign and vote for him on January 19, 2019, when the party goes to the polls to chose a presidential candidate.
