According to Mr. Anthony Forson, a former president of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), the GBA still has a voice when it comes to pressuring public officials to act in the interests of the nation and its citizens.
He asserted that the GBA has consistently communicated its positions on important national problems through press announcements or interactions with key stakeholders.
Mr. Forson went on to say that the GBA’s main cause was the restoration of civilian government.
With numerous channels for people to express their opinions already in place, he claimed that has occurred.
When questioned if the GBA had lost its voice at the moment when speaking on the 40th anniversary of the Martyrs’ Day commemoration, he replied this on the New Day show with Johnnie Hughes on TV3 on Thursday, June 30.
Without a doubt, he replied.
“I’ve had the chance to talk on this matter,” he continued. Democracy was the main problem that the GBA fought. Now that everyone in power was chosen by us, there is no conflict in that direction.
“The fundamental issue which the GBA was fighting for was a return to civilian rule. There so many other voices. For example, then it was only GBC, now we have TV3 and others, we have social media which is also a very string force. So I cannot say that the GBA has lot its voice,” he said.
