The term of Akufo-Addo as Chairman of Ecowas expires

Date:

On Sunday, July 3, Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced the end of his term as the ECW’s Authority of Heads of State Chair (Ecowas).

The first of President Akufo-two Addo’s mandates began in 2020, and the second was extended for an additional year in 2021.

At the Authority’s 61st Ordinary Session, which was held in Accra on Sunday, he presided over his final meeting.

President Umaro Sissoco Embalo of Guinea-Bissau took his place, and he expressed gratitude to the other heads of state who had chosen him to fill the position.

President Embalo is set to serve for one year subject to renewal.

President Akufo-Addo took over from Niger’s former president, Mahamadou Issoufou, on Monday, September 7, 2020.
