To combat attacks, security agencies must work together – Immigration Commander

Date:

With the increasing terrorist attacks in the West Africa Sub-Region, the Bono Regional Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service, DCI Eric Afari is calling for effective collaboration among all the security agencies in the region to enable them to counter any external and internal aggression.

DCI Eric Afari made the call during the annual Thanksgiving Service held in Sunyani for personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service in the Bono Region.

The annual Thanksgiving Service of the Ghana Immigration Service is to thank God for protecting personnel throughout the year and also reflect on what is ahead of them in the coming year.

A minute of silence was observed for fallen personnel in 2021.

The programme was also graced by other security officials from the Ghana National Fire Service, the police, among others.

The Bono Regional Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service, DCI Eric Afari speaking at the programme noted that the surest way to counter external and internal aggression is effective collaboration among all the security agencies.

He called on security agencies to close their ranks to counter any attacks.

“Let me seize this opportunity to call for closer collaboration among the security agencies as we confront contemporary security challenges and threats from within and the external environment.”

DCI Afari also urged members of the Ghana Immigration Service to live in harmony with their host communities, since it is the surest way to gather information on any external threat.

“The local communities are our immediate stakeholders and a fertile source of intelligence for our work. Every effort must therefore be made to live in peace and harmony with them if we are to be operationally effective.

Samuel Gyamena, a Deputy Director at the Bono Regional Coordinating Council who represented the Bono Regional Minister, Justina Owusu Banahene, noted that the Government would continue to resource security agencies in the country to enable them to discharge their constitutional mandate effectively.

Rev. Sam Foster Kwakye preaching the sermon at the programme urged the personnel to always thank God for how far he has brought them, and also work diligently.
