Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, is on a three-day working visit to Morocco to deepen trade relations and promote investment cooperation between the two countries.
As part of the visit, which began on Monday, May 3, 2026, she held bilateral talks with Mr Karim Zidane, Morocco’s Minister of Investments, Convergence and Public Policy, and Mr Omar Hejira, Minister of Foreign Trade.
Madam Ofosu-Adjare expressed appreciation for the invitation and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with Morocco, particularly in the automobile and agro-processing sectors.
She commended Morocco’s progress under the African Continental Free Trade Area and called for the removal of non-tariff barriers to improve trade flows.
The Minister highlighted Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy policy as a driver of industrial growth and investment attraction.
She also outlined provisions under the revised Ghana Investment Promotion Centre law aimed at creating a conducive environment for foreign investors.
Mr Zidane recalled the 2017 visit of King Mohammed VI to Ghana as a turning point in bilateral relations and urged increased Ghanaian exports to address trade imbalances.
He proposed the organisation of a Business and Investment Forum in Ghana to accelerate partnerships between the two countries.
In a separate engagement, Mr Hejira described Ghana as a strategic trading partner and said the visit presented an opportunity to deepen trade cooperation.
He highlighted Morocco’s economic performance in sectors including renewable energy, port infrastructure, finance, pharmaceuticals, human capital development, as well as the automobile and aviation industries.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to organise the proposed Business and Investment Forum to enhance business-to-business engagement.
The delegation was later hosted to a formal ceremony by Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Trade.
Madam Ofosu-Adjare was accompanied by Mrs Charity Gbedawo, Ghana’s Ambassador to Morocco, and officials from the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority.
