Unregistered SIM cards will be deactivated today by the NCA.

Date:

Today, April 17, all unregistered SIM cards would be removed from the telecom companies’ database.

The National Communications Authority issued a directive, which this action complies with (NCA).

The NCA directed the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications to make sure that, by the deadline of March 31, 2023, any SIM cards that have not been re-registered with Ghana cards are withdrawn.

As a result, all SIM cards registered after the individual cap of 10 should also be deactivated and deleted from all databases.

The Telecom Operators must also report to the NCA how many SIM cards have been disconnected.

The Chief Executive for the Chamber, Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey tells Citi News his outfit will cooperate with NCA in this exercise.

“The regulator has given timelines, from the perspective of the regulator, these things have been happening previously. We will cooperate with the regulator,” Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications said.
