Water Crises: NPP parliamentary candidate rescues Dawa Akura residents

Date:

Madam Sherifa Sekyere-Tijani, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Nkwanta South, has stepped in to solve the water crisis of Dawa Akura, a suburb of the Nkwanta South Municipality in the Oti Region.

She led a team of borehole drillers to the site for the commencement of the drilling process to provide potable water to the residents.

Madam Sekyere-Tijani told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that the residents made an appeal to her to support them to get a borehole to access potable water, which had been a major problem for decades.

“It is, therefore, important to listen to the plight of the people hence my decision to fund the drilling of the borehole to ease the stress the women go through in search of drinking water,” she said.

It was time for the people of Nkwanta South to give a woman the opportunity to serve them in Parliament and advocate development projects to improve their standards of living, Madam Sekyere-Tijani said.

She noted that they had voted for the National Democratic Congress for decades but their basic problems remained unattended to.

She advised the residents to maintain the borehole to last long for them to continue enjoying potable water.

Some of the women expressed joy upon seeing the commencement of the drilling process and shared their ordeal in search of water, especially during the dry season.

They said their sources of water always posed health threats to them and their families, but they had no choice since that was their only source.

They, therefore, expressed gratitude to Madam Sekyere-Tijani for going to their aid and pledged to give her the necessary support come December 7.
