The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reassured Ghanaians that the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) would ensure transparency and fairness in the admission of students come, March 2022.

A training and sensitization programme has consequently, been rolled out across the country to engage stakeholders to understand the processes and how students could be assisted to do the needful.

In an engagement with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Cape Coast, Katakyie Kwame Opoku Agyemang, the Central Regional Free SHS Coordinator said, the process could be done right if all parents got seriously involved.

He indicated that the selection process, which allowed a total of six schools for each candidate, was slated from Monday, November 29 to Tuesday, December 14.

He said 139 technical and vocational Schools with 16 of these schools from the Central Region have been absorbed under the Free SHS Policy to help make it easier for those interested to get a good chance to be enrolled.

Also, 120 special category ‘C’ schools, 12 of which are in the Region, have been marked for pupils interested in staying at the boarding house to select.

Speaking on why pupils were now made to select schools after writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), he said it was to allow pupils have ample time to decide on their choices and also to focus on their Examination.

Katakyie Opoku Agyemang said the training programme, would be extended to stakeholders in the various districts and circuits to help ease the perennial problem faced during admission of students.

“It would also help reduce the stress and frustration parents, guardians, schools and candidates go through during those periods”, he added.
