Jude Bellingham discloses one area where he is ‘disappointing’ Carlo Ancelotti after breaking Cristiano Ronaldo records at Real Madrid.

Jude Bellingham has set numerous records for Real Madrid, but he admits to “disappointing” manager Carlo Ancelotti in one area.

The England international midfielder has made a stunning impact in Spanish football following his €103 million (£88m/$112m) move to Santiago Bernabeu from Borussia Dortmund. The talented 20-year-old, who has won the prestigious Golden Boy award for 2023, has netted 15 goals in 17 appearances this season, allowing him to surpass Blancos legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s exploits.

Bellingham has told Tuttosport of how Ancelotti is bringing the best out of him, while demanding even more on and off the pitch: “I’ve had a ferocious commitment to improving myself with hard work, but the credit goes to coach Ancelotti who has found the right position for me, giving me more freedom, so I’m flying now. However, I know I am disappointing him in one aspect.”

Asked to reveal what that aspect is, Bellingham added: “I still don’t speak Spanish. I am sorry but I am finding obstacles I didn’t expect with this language. I admit it’s difficult for me, but I promise maximum commitment.”

Bellingham, who also landed the Kopa Trophy at the recent Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris, added on following in the footsteps of boyhood idol Wayne Rooney as the recipient of an award that recognises the best young talent on the planet: “It’s fantastic, it’s an extraordinary result. I am glad of it and I thank all the jurors who voted for me. I am the third English player to win this award after Wayne Rooney, one of my idols, in 2005 when he was at Manchester United and Raheem Sterling in 2014 when he was playing for Liverpool.”

Bellingham has been nursing a shoulder injury of late, which Real are having to manage ahead of potential surgery, and he will be hoping to avoid any further setbacks heading towards what promises to be a big 2024 for him with club and country.

Man Utd forward called out for “petulance” following a dismal season that culminated in a loss to Newcastle

0

Speaking to Stadium Astro, Bruce said: “The body language of some of the players doesn’t look right. We’ve been talking now and the first one you look at is why all of a sudden Marcus Rashford, after how good he was, how good he played for England a few weeks ago, [has gone] to what you see now. Is he not happy playing on the right, what is wrong? We aren’t going to know what has happened behind the scenes if anything has happened.

“When he comes off, he shows that petulance, he is not happy. I think he needs to have a look at himself, to start with. It’s not just him, you look through the nucleus of the side and they have been blown away by Newcastle. That is the worry.”

Steve Bruce, a Manchester United great, chastised Marcus Rashford for his unprofessional behavior on the field when facing Newcastle United.

The England international was used on the right flank by Erik ten Hag, but he was substituted off just after the hour mark as he had a forgettable night against the Magpies. The former United defender was not happy with the striker’s attitude on the pitch as he produced another poor performance in a 1-0 loss at Newcastle on Saturday night.

Ten Hag did not publicly criticise Rashford after the game but the Dutch manager said that he would have a chat with him directly in private.

Among a series of criticisms, former Red Devils skipper Harry Maguire came to his colleague’s support as he claimed that the 26-year-old is just experiencing a rough patch of form.

The English forward has managed to score just two goals in the 2023-24 campaign to date, in stark contrast to his brilliant run of form last season where he scored 30 goals across all competitions. Rashford is expected to be back in action on Wednesday when United face Chelsea in a crucial Premier League fixture.

NHIS mobile application reaches over 50,000 downloads

The Northern Regional office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has said the National Health Insurance Scheme mobile application has exceeded 50,000 downloads within the first year of its launch.

Mr Isaac Gideon Akonde, the Claims Processing Centre Director of the Northern Regional NHIA, who gave the figure, said getting such numbers within a year proved public interest in the application and services under the Scheme.

He was speaking after a float undertaken by the NHIS as part of activities to mark its 20th anniversary celebration.

The float mainly engaged residents of Tamale on the processes involved in downloading and using the “MYNHIS” application, which is available on the Google and Apple play stores.

Mr Akonde said the application was introduced to draw the NHIS closer to subscribers where all necessary information on the scheme would be handy.

He said the application outlined the services and drugs covered by the scheme adding that its usage could prevent clients from being cheated at health care facilities.

He said, “People are disadvantaged at hospitals because they do not know what they are entitled to, however this App has drug and service lists to prevent such cases.”

He indicated that the application featured a comprehensive list of health care centres with proximity indicators empowering users to conveniently select options based on their proximity as well as a module to communicate with staff of the NHIA.

The number of downloads was expected to increase given the depth of sensitisation extended to the public about the application, he said.

Attaining Maturity Level Four: FDA engages stakeholders in clinical trials

0

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has engaged stakeholders in the clinical trials industry in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, as part of its efforts to attain maturity level four as a regulatory body.

Presently, the World Health Organisation (WHO) uses Global Benchmark Tools (GBT) to objectively evaluate national regulatory systems to ensure the quality and safety of medical products to determine the maturity of a country’s system on the scale of one to four.

In April 2020, the FDA became the second regulatory authority in Africa to attain maturity level three following an assessment by the WHO.

To attain maturity level four, the Authority is taking steps to maintain and continuously improve on this stable, well-functioning and integrated regulatory system for medical products.

It is for this reason that the Authority has engaged stakeholders in clinical trials in the region on the updated regulatory requirements.

The meeting, which provided a common platform to discuss current regulatory procedure and policies, also sought to explore the best ways to apply the needed reforms to enhance compliance with local regulatory requirements, while meeting international standards.

It was attended by stakeholders drawn from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR), and the Agogo Malaria Research Centre.

Dr Yvonne Adu-Boahen, the Head of Clinical Trials, FDA, said it was important to periodically engage their stakeholders to update and also remind them of the requirements they needed to work with.

She said one of the goals for the engagement was to discuss the public assessment report which was a benchmarking tool for the WHO in assessing the FDA in attaining maturity level four, especially in clinical trials.

“It is good that this information is not just coming from the regulator but also the researchers so that we all work together to be able to publish for transparency to attain the level that we all desire,” she noted.

She said years of engagements with stakeholders had made them understand the rule of the game, making the work of both parties easier.

The FDA, she said, was always open to the public to ensure collective protection of public health and safety.

Dr Joseph Bonney, a participant from KCCR, said clinical trials depended largely on the work of FDA and that the engagement would strengthen the collaboration between the regulator and the institutions.

He said this would go a long way to improve their clinical research to improve the trials and ecosystem in the country, to promote and invite more of such activities.

Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, the Regional Minister, said the Region held a significant part of the Ghana’s food supply, and that all efforts would be made to revive the over 6000 farmers and their fields affected.

“The Region is counting its losses, but we are also positioning ourselves to properly take stock and make the best out of the situation by documenting the most pressing needs and proffer the best prescriptions, especially for our gallant farmers to get back to work.
