DECISIONS! DECISIONS!! DECISIONS!!!

0

Everything in life has an end purpose. And so has the preaching of the gospel; for many to take decisions for one who laid down his life for them.

When this is your aim, tears well up in your eyes when you see literally thousands of men and women, hitherto uncontrollable youth and children lift up their hands and make a decision for Jesus.

The purpose of the preaching of the gospel has been and should always be to see thousands of souls turn to Jesus.
This is what the Healing Jesus Campaign team brought to the farming folk of Sefwi Wiaso.

Wiaso is the capital of the then Sefwi Wiaso District capital. Now it forms part of the newly created Western North region. This is the town that played host to international Evangelist Dag Heward-Mills and the Healing Jesus Campaign team from 20th to 22nd May 2019.

The Evangelist preached the gospel three nights explaining why the people of Sefwi Wiaso must turn to Jesus. And the people paid heed to the preaching of the message of salvation with many miracles following.

Thousands took the decision for Christ to the claps and cheers of the pastors gathered to encourage the crusade. To those who have missed the pure message of salvation, it was a teary sight to behold people in the or thousands walk forward and decide to follow Jesus.

To those who make it possible for people to take a decision as important as that, deserve commendation.
To those who support such international Evangelists like Dag Heward-Mills and the Healing Jesus team, the Sweet Melodies FM News crew say thank you for the making it possible for decisions.

President Akufo-Addo Assents To Right To Information Act

0

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, 21st May, 2019, gave assent to Right to Information Act, at a brief event at Jubilee House, the seat of the nation’s presidency.

In his remarks, before giving assent to the Act, President Akufo-Addo expressed his satisfaction that the passing of the Act came into effect during his time as President, and in the time of the 7th Parliament.

“I want to congratulate the 7th Parliament for its courage, sense of responsibility and commitment to good governance in passing this significant piece of legislation,” the President added.

The purposes of the Act, as set out in its Preamble, is to provide for the implementation of the constitutional right to information held by any public institution, and to foster a culture of transparency and accountability in public affairs.

This, in the view, of President “should enhance the quality of governance of our country, and provide a critical tool in the fight against corruption in public life.”

With Parliament having provided that Act comes into effect in the next financial year, i.e. January 2020, because of the financial consequences in the implementation of the law, the President stated that this is to give the public treasury the opportunity to make the necessary allocations to enable the Act to be effective.

“I am very happy that this law has finally been passed, and I did make the commitment that, when it was brought to me, I would give my assent to it right away. It was, in fact, brought to me yesterday afternoon,” the President said.

He continued, “But, on second thought, I felt that I should sign it in the plain view of the Ghanaian people, for you to know that this long-winding parliamentary process has finally come to an end.”

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, 21st May, 2019, inspected ongoing dredging works on the Odaw river, and the construction of a Storm Drain at Kaneshie 1st Light, in Accra.

Accompanied by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Ishmael Ashitey; Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Hon, Cecilia Abena Dapaah; Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama; and the Mayor for Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, President Akufo-Addo’s first port of call was the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

The site engineer on site, Mr. Wise Ametefe, told President Akufo-Addo that the dredging works currently ongoing are not limited to the Odaw River only, but to the Korle Lagoon and to the estuary.

Upon completion of the project, the site engineer stated that a number of recreational facilities will be constructed on the site of the Odaw River, as part of the Lower Korle Lagoon Redevelopment Project, and urged residents living around the River to desist from throwing refuse into the river, as it has made the process dredging quite difficult.

Mr. Wise Ametefe indicated further that dredging works will be done at Caprice, Avenor, and Agbogbloshie, all in Accra, and in the Korle Lagoon as well.

The site engineer assured President Akufo-Addo that the dredging of the Odaw River will be completed in 18 days’ time, to which the President retorted, “I will come back in 18 days to check”.

At Kaneshie 1st Light junction, where an emergency priority storm drain is being constructed, the project manager, Mr. George Asiedu, told the President that the 630-metre-long storm drain will help end the perennial flooding that occurs in Kaneshie and its environs.

“It is heartwarming to note that, after Monday’s heavy downpour, there was no flooding at Kaneshie and its environs, even though the work has not been completed. Indeed, the project should have been completed by 15th April, but it is now set to be completed in June this year,” Mr. Asiedu added.

Currently, there are some twenty-one (21) dredging and desilting works currently ongoing in Greater Accra. These include works ongoing at South Kaneshie, Sukura-Mampon, Mataheko, Kaneshie Highway, St Mary’s at Korle Gonno, Calypso Drain at Kpone Katamanso, Awudome, Kwashie Bu, Bale Down Stream, Castle Drain at Klottey Lagoon and Agbogbloshie.

Ghana Has Solved Problem Of Basic Financial Inclusion – VP Bawumia

0

Most Ghanaians have over the years been excluded from basic banking services because of lack of identity, inability to produce a utility bill or an address.

However, the introduction and adoption of comprehensive Mobile Money Interoperability (MMI) in Ghana has solved the problem of ensuring basic financial inclusion, Vice President Bawumia has indicated.

Speaking in Accra on Monday, 20th May 2019, Vice President Bawumia said the mobile money payments interoperability system that allows the transfer of funds from mobile money accounts to bank accounts (back-to-back) and from mobile or bank accounts to biometric payment card accounts (ezwich) means that practically, every Ghanaian can enjoy banking services, in fulfilment of the pledge to give every Ghanaian access to a bank account.

“Mobile Money Interoperability has provided most of the unbanked and underbanked with access to a transaction account that serves as a gateway to other financial services.

“If you have a Mobile Money (MoMo) account in Ghana you are no longer excluded from the financial system. Every user of a MoMo account can now use that account like a traditional bank account.

“Since a mobile money account now functions like a bank account we can confidently say that Ghana has solved the problem of basic financial inclusion. It is in this context that we said previously that Mobile Money Interoperability will give every Ghanaian access to a bank account.”

Experts have described Ghana’s payment system architecture as one of the most advanced in Africa, and with 34.5 million registered mobile money accounts in Ghana for a country with a population of about 30 million, the use of Mobile money is becoming a way of life.

“Within the next year, we intend to integrate all payment channels to provide a platform for receipt of all government payments electronically. The kind of digital payments architecture that we are building has enabled the filing of tax returns and paying taxes electronically”, Vice President Bawumia disclosed.

Vice President Bawumia was speaking at the 3rd Africa Leadership Conference organised by the International Advertising Association (IAA) in Accra. The Conference, under the theme “Africa Rising: technology Trends vrs Consumer Choice – Who’s determining the future?” and is being attended by advertising titans from across the world, including Srinivasan K. Swamy, Chairman and World President of the IAA.

“Yapei Water Problem A Thing Of The Past” – Yapei Wura

0

The Paramount Chief of the Yapei Traditional Area, Soale Alhassan, has expressed his appreciation to the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for the ongoing construction of a small-town water system, in fulfillment of a pledge he made to the people of Yapei in September 2016

It will be recalled that on 3rd September 2016, Yapeiwura Soale Alhassan told then-candidate Akufo-Addo that “our brother (President John Mahama) is the President, by we are thirsty, even though we are surrounded by water.”

Addressing a durbar of Chiefs in Yapei on Sunday, 19th May 2019, in honour of the President, the Yapei Wura recounted his 2016 lamentations, and the pledge by the then NPP flagbearer to “remedy the situation when you get elected to the presidency.”

He stated, much to the pleasure of the people of Yapei, that “Insha Allah, within two years of your presidency, we are seeing ongoing works on the construction of a small town water supply system that will provide potable drinking water to Yapei, and I am reliably informed that the project will be completed and water will flow in our homes by October this year.”

He continued, “In fact, when I join my ancestors, I will have a good story to tell that, during my reign as Yapeiwura, and through the benevolence of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the perennial water problem in Yapei is a thing of the past.”

Describing President Akufo-Addo as a promise keeper, he, again, recounted the pledge made by President Akufo-Addo to implement his Free Senior High School policy, to ensure that every Ghanaian child receives a minimum of Senior High School education.

“You promised to give our children, the child of a charcoal seller, the child of a peasant farmer, and children of underprivileged families, with access to free secondary education, and, today, hundreds of children in my jurisdiction and thousands across the country are benefitting from your free SHS policy,” he said.

Touching on the creation of the Savannah Region, the Yapei Wura thanked the President for fulfilling yet another campaign pledge.

“You stated here in my palace that you are not a Gonja and you were not related to Gonjas by birth, but you will best serve the people of Gonjaland as President, and, today, our long-cherished dream of having a region of our own has been fulfilled by your government. Gonja land, which has the largest areas with abundant natural and human resources, has been blessed with the Savannah Region. Savannah Region is your baby,” he added.

He also thanked President Akufo-Addo for the implementation of the programme for “Planting for Food and Jobs”, which, he said, “is impacting positively on the lives of my people and also many thousands of Ghanaians.”
